Medical Pedicure and Foot Diagnostics – Comprehensive Care from Orthoteh

Medical Pedicure – Care That Restores Comfort

At Orthoteh, we see every day how often people underestimate foot care. Most people come to us only once they’re already in pain or dealing with problems like calluses, ingrown toenails, cracked heels, or fungal infections. That’s exactly why we offer our Medical Pedicure service — combining two essentials without which lasting results simply aren’t possible: medical pedicure treatment and foot diagnostics.

A Medical Pedicure is not just a cosmetic procedure. It’s a way to address real problems, relieve pain, and prevent future complications. For people with chronic conditions such as diabetes, even a small wound can develop into a serious issue. That’s why we view medical pedicure as part of comprehensive health care, not simply a maintenance service.

Our goal is for every patient to feel relief and lightness from the very first session, whenever possible. But to achieve real results, we never work blindly — diagnostics always comes first. Diagnostics and medical pedicure go hand in hand. In our clinics, every medical pedicure session begins with an examination and diagnostic assessment. Through gait analysis, we can also see how pressure is distributed across the foot, which areas are overloaded, and how this affects the skin and nails.

Medical pedicure addresses many foot problems that may not be purely superficial. Behind a single callus, there can be poor posture, ill-fitting shoes, or a change in gait pattern. Once we understand the underlying cause, we can treat it with precision. This is what turns medical pedicure from a simple treatment into part of a complete recovery and prevention plan.

Medical Pedicure as a Procedure

The Medical Pedicure procedure is performed gently and with great care. We use professional instruments that undergo sterilization, along with equipment designed for pain-free treatment. A Medical Pedicure session often involves removing calluses, treating cracks and ingrown nails, clearing built-up hard skin, and restoring the skin’s softness. When Medical Pedicure is combined with the right supporting products — such as custom insoles or silicone toe separators — the results last significantly longer.

Orthopedic products are often a natural extension of Medical Pedicure care. Many patients don’t realize that calluses and foot pain are frequently caused by improper weight distribution or foot deformities. That’s why at Orthoteh, we don’t stop at the Medical Pedicure procedure itself. After every session, we assess whether additional support is needed — custom insoles, toe separators, or orthopedic footwear.

Our custom insoles are made from an impression of the foot. This allows us to correct pressure distribution and ensure the weight is spread evenly. When Medical Pedicure is combined with the right insole, the skin is no longer overloaded, new calluses stop forming, and existing cracks begin to heal faster.

In some cases, we also recommend silicone products that relieve pressure between the toes and help prevent deformities. For more advanced conditions — such as flat feet or hallux valgus — we work closely with orthopedic specialists and offer footwear designed to provide stability and comfort.

Medical Pedicure and our overall foot care service share one goal: helping people walk with confidence — free from pain and free from the fear that the problem will come back.

Medical Pedicure and Aftercare

We think in terms of complete care for foot health problems — from Medical Pedicure to custom insoles and footwear. Patients who choose this combined approach — Medical Pedicure, diagnostics, and Orthoteh custom insoles — often notice a difference after just the first few sessions.

Patients who have undergone Medical Pedicure often report that:

  • Foot pain and tension are reduced or disappear completely
  • Their skin becomes softer, with no rough patches or cracks
  • Their gait feels lighter and more natural
  • Fatigue after a long day is significantly reduced
  • Their confidence improves, as they no longer feel self-conscious about their feet

The best part is that when it’s done properly and professionally — with diagnostics, care, and ongoing maintenance — the results of Medical Pedicure last. Nails don’t just look better; they actually become healthier.

At Orthoteh, we believe that true care doesn’t end with a single procedure. Our Medical Pedicure team is committed to a complete approach — from the initial examination and pedicure treatment to creating individual solutions tailored to each patient.

We believe that when knowledge of foot biomechanics comes together with hands-on experience in Medical Pedicure, the result is more than visible — it’s felt with every step. That’s why we continue to develop our Medical Pedicure clinics, so that every person who visits us receives complete care: professional, personal, and timely.

All patients visiting our Medical Pedicure clinics can experience firsthand the professionalism of our specialists, along with the modern, professional atmosphere of the clinic.

What Is a Medical Pedicure?

Medical Pedicure is a specialized podiatric procedure that combines knowledge from dermatology, biomechanics, orthopedics, and hygiene. It focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and non-invasive treatment of problems affecting the foot and nail plate — unlike cosmetic pedicure, which is aimed at aesthetic appearance.

Medical Pedicure aims to restore comfort, functionality, and tissue integrity. It is suitable for a wide range of people — from athletes and physically active individuals, to older adults with chronic conditions, to patients with diabetes, vascular disorders, fungal infections, or toe deformities.

Diagnostics – The First and Most Important Step Before Medical Pedicure”
Before beginning the Medical Pedicure procedure itself, we carry out a podiatric diagnostic assessment — a detailed examination and analysis of the foot, nails, skin, and gait.

It includes:

  • Assessment of skin condition (moisture, elasticity, presence of calluses, hyperkeratosis, or fissures)
  • Examination of the nail plate — shape, thickness, and changes in color or structure
  • Observation of foot placement and pressure distribution during movement
  • Analysis of footwear and areas at risk of excessive pressure

This diagnostic process helps identify the root cause of the problem — whether it’s a biomechanical imbalance, improper hygiene, unsuitable footwear, systemic conditions, or injury. Only after an accurate assessment can a proper, individualized plan for therapeutic care and Medical Pedicure be developed.

Technological Equipment and Safety in Medical Pedicure

Professional Medical Pedicure is performed using specialized podiatric devices with vacuum aspiration. These devices ensure a dust-free, sterile environment and allow for exceptionally precise treatment without damaging the surrounding tissue.

As with any procedure that qualifies as medical, Medical Pedicure uses sterile or single-use instruments — burrs, tips, and probes — which undergo a multi-stage sterilization process: disinfection → ultrasonic cleaning → autoclaving at high temperature and pressure. This allows our Medical Pedicure clinics to guarantee absolute hygienic safety, which is especially important when treating patients with weakened immunity, diabetes, or minor skin injuries.
